"Crocadillaz" by Gorillaz ft. De La Soul & Dawn Penn

If you're having a conversation about Hip Hop pioneers, then you have to talk about De La Soul.  In a world where almost everything is attainable upon a click or two, the majority of De La's catalog was not...until this past weekend.  The issue, rooted in sample clearances, was resolved 30+ years later when Tommy Boy was acquired by Reservoir.  Let's rewind to when three kids from Long Island caught Prince Paul's ear back in the late 80's.  Together they went on to release several classic albums.  Unless you are a true fan toting the wax, tapes and/or CD's, you missed out on some of the most influential Hip Hop in existence.  In extremely sad news, Dave Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove) passed just before the music became available on all major streaming platforms.  There are a lot of young people out there bobbing their heads in amazement right now, who had never been introduced to the De La Soul brand.  If you never knew them, then just start with 3 Feet High and Rising (1989).  If you're a forever fan like us, enjoy the convenience (finally)!  In the spirit of Music Monday featuring new music, here's Crocadillaz from the Gorillaz featuring De La and Dawn Penn (and a verse from Trugoy)!
